Out of a growing curiosity and passion for high-quality furnishings, lighting, luxury textiles, and rugs, Christin Balzer created the idea for CARA + Co in 2017. After serving other designers as a purchasing agent since then, the company was re-imagined as a contemporary showroom - currently only virtual but coming soon to Sacramento, CA . We thrive to showcase makers and artisans from around the world and make them available to members of the design industry.
Traveling, product sourcing, and discovering emerging artisans, is a lifelong passion and a pleasure to share with our design partners. We also work with artisans and furniture makers on custom lines and are always eager to include designers in the process to support them in creating innovative spaces. As we are designers ourselves, we know how hard it can be to find just the right pieces; so, if we can help to make it, we're here to support custom productions for residential and commercial projects. Our goal is to grow the appreciation for craftsmanship and thoughtful design in our industry - a process that takes patience, skill, and time. You can say we are in total support of the art of Slow Living, and we're willing to hustle for it!
CARA is considered a Gaelic name coming from the Irish word “cara” meaning 'friend'. It is also an English, German, and Italian language feminine given name from the Latin cārus meaning “darling, beloved, dear, loved one”.
The name was chosen as a symbol and constant reminder of why we build this company and inclusive community of designers.
